San
Vito Lo Capo is lying on the north coast of Sicily, between Palermo and
Trapani on the seaside at the foot of the homonimous promontory.
The village has 3600 villagers, but during the summer is filled with tourists
from Italy and from the world. The white beach is like and arc along the
lenght of the village. From east, where are sitting the Tonnara and the
beautiful Natural Reserve of the Zingaro, from west, at the end of the coast
you can see a military lighthouse and the green of the palm along the beach.
Walking along streets filled of a lot of shop, bar and restaurant, you can
appreciate the smell of typical cooking and at the same moment you can see
the historical site of the Borgo, setting in a characteristic framework
of mediterranean colours. The village of maritime tradition developed near
the old saracen fortress, that today is the Santuario of Saint Vito.
Even if there are a lot of signs of 200, 500, 600, is
only form the last century that San Vito Lo Capo is a living centre,
and than an important tourist site. San Vito Lo Capo is the place
for who loves beach, perfect for who loves relax in a little bay with pebbly
beach. San Vito Lo Capo is preferred by adults, boys and children.
The territory gives the possibility to choice between sport, sea, mountain,
cultural sites and fun.
Every year, at the end of September, takes place the most famous Cous Cous
Fest (www.couscousfest.it), where
international chefs challenge each other cooking different type of Cous
Cous.
